STAGE IS SET AS CASSIDY AND VERGNE EYE STRONG DISPLAYS AT DIRIYAH E-PRIX
Riyadh, 25th January 2024: Formula E drivers Nick Cassidy and Jean-Eric Vergne are aiming to produce strong performances with the stage set for this weekend’s Diriyah E-Prix double-header races.
Saudi Arabia will host the second and third rounds of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship and for Jaguar TCS Racing’s Cassidy and two-time world champion Vergne, they are determined to do well under the lights at UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Vergne hopes Diriyah can kick-start their season following a difficult Season 9 where the team secured three podiums and a victory.
Speaking in the pre-race press conference, Vergne said: “I don’t think there was much fight last season. We had some good races and podiums and we were not quick enough to fight for the team and driver championships so hopefully we’ll be able to give them a tough time. I hope we can see the improvement quickly and be able to compete with the drivers at the front.”
For Cassidy, runner-up last season, he is targeting points on a track where he’s been unable to find his top form yet.
He said: “As a Jaguar driver, it’s nice to have the team behind me and I feel really good and lucky.
“All the drivers are strong, on this track I’ve struggled a bit and hopefully I can score a few points and have a good weekend.”
Rounds 2 and 3 take place on a street circuit surrounding the UNESCO World Heritage Site, one of the most picturesque locations on the 16-race calendar the only night races in the Formula E season.
Ahead of the races, which start at 8pm AST on both days, ticketholders can enjoy a full day of entertainment for the whole family in the Allianz Fan Village, with racing simulators in the gaming arena, plus live music performances, street food and much more.
Tickets are now available to buy for the 2024 Diriyah E-Prix here.
