Strategic collaboration expands access to professional filmmaking training, technical expertise and Nikon’s latest Z CINEMA innovations.

The partnership supports Saudi Arabia’s growing creative economy by equipping filmmakers with the skills and technology needed to produce world-class cinematic content.

Alkhobar, Saudi Arabia – 23 July 2026 — Nikon Middle East has announced a strategic partnership with the Saudi Cinema Association aimed at supporting the continued growth of Saudi Arabia’s rapidly evolving film industry by expanding access to professional education, technical expertise and industry-leading imaging technologies.

Formalised through a strategic partnership and joint sales and marketing agreement, the collaboration brings together Nikon Middle East, the Saudi Cinema Association, and Abdulwahed Photography, Nikon’s exclusive distributor in Saudi Arabia, to deliver practical training programmes, hands-on workshops and exclusive benefits for members of the Association.

The agreement was signed in Alkhobar by Narendra Menon, Managing Director of Nikon Middle East, Hani Al Mulla, Chief Executive Officer of the Saudi Cinema Association, and Sami Al Belehe, Nikon Brand Manager at Abdulwahed Photography.

The agreement comes at a pivotal time as Saudi Arabia continues to invest in developing its creative economy and film industry, creating unprecedented opportunities for filmmakers and accelerating demand for highly skilled creative talent. Through this partnership, Nikon and the Saudi Cinema Association will collaborate on specialised training initiatives designed to equip both aspiring and established filmmakers with the technical expertise and practical experience needed to produce world-class cinematic content. The collaboration will include workshops covering professional cinematography techniques, camera operation, lens selection, workflow optimisation and emerging filmmaking technologies. Participants will also gain hands-on access to Nikon’s latest imaging solutions, supported by technical experts and industry professionals.

The initiative reflects Nikon’s long-standing commitment to supporting creators not only through innovative technology, but also through education and skills development that help unlock creative potential.

The partnership also introduces a joint sales and marketing programme that will provide Saudi Cinema Association members with exclusive offers on selected Nikon products while increasing awareness of professional imaging solutions tailored for cinematic production.

Through this partnership, Saudi filmmakers and video producers will gain greater access to Nikon’s latest innovations in professional filmmaking, centred on the expanding Z Cinema series. Leading the line-up is the Nikon ZR, Nikon’s first dedicated cinema camera, co-developed with RED Digital Cinema. It is the first camera to use the R3D NE codec, a variant of RED’s professional REDCODE RAW developed jointly by Nikon and RED, delivering 12-bit RAW video at 6K/60p with colour science consistent with RED cinema cameras used on professional film productions, with over 15 stops of dynamic range, based on Nikon measurement, in a body weighing just 540g. Complementing the camera is Nikon’s growing lineup of NIKKOR Z lenses, including the cinema-focused NIKKOR Z 28-135mm f/4 PZ, alongside flexible in-camera recording options including N-RAW and ProRes RAW HQ.

The Nikon ZR also features the world’s first 32-bit float audio recording in a camera with interchangeable lenses — among cameras with interchangeable lenses that record audio via the built-in microphone and 3.5mm stereo mini-pin jack, as of September 10, 2025, based on Nikon research. For filmmakers, this means dialogue and location sound can be captured without painstaking level-setting on set: audio that is too quiet or unexpectedly loud can be fully recovered in post-production without clipping or distortion, freeing solo shooters and documentary crews to focus on the story rather than the sound meter.
