XO DATA REVEALS GCC TRAVELERS ARE LEAVING SUMMER PLANS LATER AS FLEXIBILITY DRIVES PRIVATE AVIATION DEMAND

27 July 2026 – Affluent GCC travelers are leaving summer travel decisions increasingly late, with booking activity across XO, the world’s largestprivate aviation marketplace, indicating that 1–2 August is set to be the busiest weekend of the 2026 summer season for private flights departing from the region.

Analysis of booking activity across XO, part of UAE-based Vista, the world’s leading global private aviation group, shows booking behavior increasingly being shaped by flexibility. Many clients are choosing to finalizetravel much closer to departure as they balance changing family commitments, multi-stop European holidays and business priorities ahead of the return to full business activity across the GCC in September.

Europe continues to dominate demand from GCC travelers this summer, with the UK remaining the leading destination market, followed by France, Spain and Italy. The United States also continues to perform strongly, while demand across intra-GCC routes remains resilient, reflecting the region’s enduring mix of business mobility and family connectivity. Within Europe, London Luton has emerged as the most requested arrival airport, reinforcing London’s position as the primary gateway for private aviation demand from the GCC.

Youssef Mouallem, Chief Business Officer at Vista, said:

“One of the clearest trends we’re seeing this summer is an even greater emphasis on flexibility. While travelers across the Middle East have traditionally booked closer to departure than many other markets, we’re seeing booking windows compress further.  During the school holiday peak* 31% more flights were confirmed within 72 hours of travel compared with last summer and the typical booking window shrank from around 11 days to nine.

“Rather than locking in travel weeks in advance, many are preserving optionality until the final days before departure, allowing them to adapt plans around family priorities, business commitments and changing schedules. At the same time, demand continues to concentrate on multi-stop European itineraries, reflecting a desire to maximize time by combining several destinations within a single journey.”

Flexibility becomes the defining luxury

The latest inquiry and booking patterns reflect a broader shift in how globally mobile individuals value and organize their time, with flexibility increasingly shaping decision-making as business commitments, family priorities and personal schedules continue to evolve.

As the world’s largest private aviation marketplace, XO has a unique view of evolving travel behavior through one of the industry’s broadest networks of aircraft. By combining real-time operator availability, dynamic pricing and live demand intelligence, the platform enables members and clients to build and adapt complex, multi-destination itineraries around major events, business commitments and personal travel. This ability to view availability in real-time and book flight options instantly enables further traveler flexibilitywith booking often taking place at much shorter notice than traditional booking models allow.

“Ultimately, this reflects a broader shift in how affluent travelers value time. Increasingly, they expect travel to adapt around them, not the other way around. Private aviation delivers that flexibility through direct airport access, tailored routing and the ability to adapt every journey as plans evolve.”

The findings are based on booking activity across XO’s global private aviation marketplace, which combines Vista’s owned fleet with a curated network of certified operators worldwide. By bringing together real-time aircraft availability, transparent pricing and global demand intelligence, the marketplace provides a unique view of evolving travel behavior while giving members greater choice, flexibility and connectivity than traditional private aviation booking models.
